Honestly, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. In fact, the only surprise here may be the fact that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has lasted this long. Seemingly right after its release and subpar reception, WB Games immediately started blaming the game for massive losses at the company. Rocksteady, the developers, were then impacted by layoffs and reports started trickling out that alleged the game's development was chaotic and suffered from a "constantly changing vision."

It all comes to an end early next year. Season 4 episode 7 dropped today and episode 8 will release in January. Once episode 8 drops, Suicide Squad will receive no new development. The game will remain online, at least for now, there just won't be any new content coming.

The addition of Deathstroke (video below), more weapons, and more story is nice and it's all detailed in the full blog, but more interesting for some will be the offline mode that's now available. Given development is coming to an end, offline mode will allow you to play all the story content and all seasonal story additions. You can start a new character or make a copy of your online character to get started. Your earned and purchased cosmetics will be available in offline mode. Obviously, you won't be able to buy new content, progress in season passes, or team up with others in offline mode. If you have other questions, the team has posted a full offline mode FAQ.

UPDATE 12/12/2024: The announcement was apparently followed by 99 employees being laid off.

Every game should have an offline mode. They get the positive kind of bomb this week from me.

This brilliant. All devs should do this. If your games failed and was once open. Don't just tear the game off its hinges let be as is and leave the game in offline mode.
Hats off to this one.
