Arenas "Miss The Mark" And Deathmatch Launches As Apex Legends Season 16 Revamps The Meta For Legends And Weapons
Arena is out, team deathmatch is in.
It will be a whole new experience when Apex Legends Season 16 goes live on February 14th. There won't be a new Legend to play this time, instead the team at Respawn Entertainment is looking to revamp the meta to shake up how players interact with the game and build out their squads.
The game will be introducing Legend Classes, categorizing each Legend into either Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, or Support. The dev team is looking to more clearly define the role of each Legend and also provide new perks for each class to further solidify the job of that Legend in a group.
The Assault class perk allows them to loot extra attachments and carry an extra stack of ammo per slot. Skirmishers can scan care packages to see what valuable loot they might contain. Recon characters will have a new way to track enemy movements, Controllers can see where the next ring will spawn, and Supports will loot extra high-value healing and support items.
Along with this new Class meta comes a new weapon which the devs say they want to dethrone some of the top weapon choices in the game. The Nemesis is an energy weapon that ramps up its shots fired the longer you pull the trigger, and holds on to that ramped-up charge for a few seconds for those times when you need to switch targets.
But wait, we're not done yet. Team deathmatch is finally being introduced to Apex Legends, and Arenas will be taken out of the game. The developers stated that the Arenas just weren't hitting the mark for their player base and that Team Deathmatch will be a more than capable replacement as an alternative game mode to the standard battle royale.
Along with all that comes new login rewards just for stopping by. February 14-21 you can login and unlock Crypto and a thematic pack, then February 21-28 you can unlock Ash and a thematic pack.
That's a lot of new coming to Apex Legends of February 14, and I for one am redownloading the game as I type this. You can watch the full Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry reveal trailer below. See you in game!
