Overwatch 2 Sojourn

Suddenly, Blizzard is talking about Overwatch 2 every day. Yesterday, we learned about next month's beta and how ordinary players can get involved in testing the game, and today a bunch of info dropped about the upcoming season of the Overwatch League, which will put Overwatch 2 on display on its biggest stage yet. I'm sure everything will work perfectly!

The season will run from May 5 to November 5, with each team playing 24 regular-season games and participating in four tournaments, along with the end-of-season championship playoffs. The complete schedule can be viewed here. Teams have been granted access to an alpha build of Overwatch 2 and have just under two months to practice up and prepare for opening weekend.

Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.

That practice build will include two maps of the new type, Push -- Colosseo (Rome) and New Queen Street (Toronto) -- as well as new Escort map Circuit Royal (Monte Carlo) and Hybrid map Midtown (New York). New damage hero Sojourn will be playable throughout the season, and balance and content updates will only be applied between tournament cycles.

While "Online Play" is the currently listed "venue" for all matches, Blizzard does plan to release news regarding live events to be conducted during the 2022 season. Here's hoping those turn out better than the planned live events for the 2020 season, which were almost completely wiped out by COVID-19.
