Bungie Offers “Sneak Peek” At Extraction Shooter Marathon In Developer Update Video
Though, no gameplay was shown.
It’s been about a year since Bungie first announced its latest project, Marathon. We haven’t seen a lot of the extraction shooter yet, but some of that was addressed today when Bungie posted a video of Game Director Joe Ziegler sharing details about the game. It should be noted that the nine-and-a-half-minute video does not include any gameplay, but if you’ve been curious about the game, it should answer some of your questions.
The basic description of the game is pretty much what anyone familiar with extraction shooters would expect. The game drops players in a hostile world where they’ll have to complete quests and gather loot to upgrade themselves while fighting off other players and mobs in order to get out alive. As the game’s name suggests, it’s built around Bungie’s IP Marathon, which has been around since the ‘90s. For players who have played any of the games in the Marathon IP before, it should be fairly familiar.
As stated before, the video doesn’t include gameplay. That said, it does offer players a look at some of the characters. Of course, the video can be viewed below. There was one other important thing of note at the end. The dev team is planning on expanding their playtests in the coming year, adding a “significant” number of players at particular milestones. They’ll be letting players know ahead of time, and suggest that those interested wishlist the game on their platform of choice.
