Call Of Duty On Battle.net Was A "Resounding Failure" According To Microsoft

Another case against Call of Duty being exclusive.

Call of Duty on Battle.net failed

Despite their recent grumblings, PlayStation remains king of the consoles. Yet they remain firmly against Microsoft buying Activision for fear of games like Call of Duty becoming exclusive to Xbox. But Microsoft's own documents seem to argue that making Call of Duty exclusive to anything could be a major mistake.

Take for instance the document Tweeted by user CharlieIntel. It shows that Microsoft believes Activison's attempt to make Call of Duty exclusive to Battle.net on PC was a "resounding failure", resulting in little to no increase in active Battle.net users during that time.

Players simply remained playing where they were used to, not migrating to the new platform. Plus, of course, Call of Duty is huge on consoles, much more than on PC. It does show, however, that exclusivity does not necessarily mean big numbers.

This alone of course does not prove that Microsoft will not make Call of Duty exclusive. It is just yet another brick in the wall of reasons why that move just doesn't make any sense.
