Iron Banner Destiny Update

With major updates and changes happening to Destiny 2’s Iron Banner in Season 17, all players–new and old alike–should now have access to the core reward path. Bungie mentioned that “We want core rewards that are focused on team play and participation, not just winning matches and skillful play.” With the goal of wanting to allow more players into Iron Banner and to allow them to enjoy the mode as well, Bungie has made it so Power Level is now disabled in Iron Banner. (However, Power Level will still be active in Trials of Osiris as the PvP endgame mode.)

In addition to Iron Banner changes, Season 17 is bringing back an old favorite: Rift. Rift is an objective-based Crucible mode. Teams of Guardians will attempt to take the Spark from the middle of the map into the base of the enemy team and dunk it into the enemy Rift. One dunk is equal to one point and the first team to score five points wins. Players can enjoy Rift during the two weeks of Iron Banner during Season 17 and in Season 18 Rift will be available as a rotator in the main Crucible playlists.

In addition to Rift’s return, there is also a brand-new map called Disjunction that was specifically designed for Rift matches. It is one of the largest maps yet and features areas that are made for different combat styles, particularly short, mid, and long-range combat.

If readers want to read the full weekly report on other changes to come in Season 17, like the return of Zone Control to Crucible, please check out the official post on Bungie’s site.
