Devs Answer Player Questions About The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin
The open-world ARPG is set between the original manga and Four Knights of the Apocalypse.
If Netmarble’s upcoming F2P open-world action RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin caught your attention at Summer Game Fest and you’ve been hoping for more information about it, you’re in luck. The dev team recently posted a brief video answering some of the most frequently asked questions submitted by people on the game’s official Discord server. It covers the basics like when it will launch and on what platforms, as well as questions about the game’s content. The video is just a little under nine minutes long and can be viewed below.
Netmarble expects to launch the game this year and should be able to provide details sometime in Q3. It is being designed with cross-play in mind and will be able to play on PlayStation, PC, and mobile devices. The plan is to launch on all three platforms rather than making PlayStation players wait. That said, the game is currently a timed exclusive for PlayStation, although the devs hope to bring it to Xbox and Switch in the future. Part of the reasoning behind this is simply that creating a game for that many platforms at once is difficult.
The devs also answered questions about the world’s content and size. Currently, the world map is approximately 30 square kilometers in size, with the story taking place across multiple unique regions. These areas are filled with quests, exploration areas, and region-specific dungeons. The game’s world is designed to allow players to experience the story on their own while also offering content that encourages working together with others. The devs also discussed side content and how it’s intended to blend with the existing gameplay rather than just being optional stuff for people to do on the side.
As far as the game’s heroes go, it’s good for players to remember that the game is based on The Seven Deadly Sins manga, which means that quite a few of the heroes will come from that source. However, new ones are being introduced, with the game filling in the time between the end of The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Knights of the Apocalypse storylines. It follows the story of Tristian and the other heroes he meets. The primary focus will be on the characters from the original books, with new characters supporting the story.
The video also discusses the game’s combat system, which is based around teams made up of four heroes. And yes, you will be collecting characters. Although, the devs didn’t mention a gacha system, our guess is that’s how players will obtain their heroes, at least partially.
On an additional note, there was discussion of PvP. The general gist is that they want to do it, but they also want to be sure it fits the game properly. For that reason, they’re being cautious and are currently considering launching PvP as an event activity to start with.
