Epic Game’s Fortnite Save The World Is About To Be Free-To-Play
You know, the PvE half of the Fortnite game.

This morning, our own Jason Winter messaged me asking if we’d covered a bit of Fortnite news. Looking at the page, and having completely forgotten about the fact that there’s a pay-to-play PvE half of Fortnite, at first glance, I thought for a second that Epic had rolled out something new. Give me a tiny bit of forgiveness here. I don’t play Fortnite, and well… since Save the World isn’t free, it hasn’t been mentioned at MMOBomb for a good while. Only, now… it is free-to-play. Or, it will be in a month.
So, if you’re interested in the Fortnite universe but not so interested in the battle royale portion, you might want to mark April 16 on your calendar.
Ahead of the free-to-play shift, Epic is hosting a registration event. Players can register on the game’s site, contributing to community registration milestones that will earn everyone rewards. The milestones are 300K, 700K, and 1M. Presently, the tally is sitting at 49%, so we’re halfway through the stretch between milestones one and 2, and almost halfway to the full 1M.
