So there’s another MOBA coming out. Surprise!

But if the announcement trailer released this week during E3 is any indication, Eterlands is bringing more to the table than just another batch of lanes and towers.

First of all, you can’t help but be impressed by the graphical quality, both in the environments, which change based on weather and time of day, and in the animations and particle/physics effects. But it’s not just for looks. The game promises “fully destructible environments,” offering strategic options like destroying a bridge to make passage impossible and breaking a dam to flood part of the map.

The combat itself sounds rather hardcore, with little room for error. As stated on the website:

Imagine a game where a huge punch can really break bones leaving no chance to survive, where a superhot magic plasma annihilates everything what it touches including the ground itself. If someone gets a huge hit, their body flies away knocking over other characters and minions. Arrows have real deadly wounds if they hit flesh. You always have to be very cautious because life and death is only separated by one wrong decision. You need to be a real team player to survive on the battleground.

Eterlands doesn’t look like your run-of-the-mill MOBA, but we’ll have to see if it can deliver on its lofty promises and get a foothold in the ultra-competitive MOBA market.

    • At least it is going to be better than those shitty mobas like SMITE or Prime World. And I am going to play it, but oh, I can’t because I am not a nerd :/.

  1. I guess it was only a matter of time until someone made a “realistic” looking one. Surprisingly enough it doesn’t look terrible actually. Visually anyway.

    • Sins of a Dark Age it also has a realistic look to it. Where the towers actually are towers, minions are soldiers with swords and arrows and all that.

        • Point was realistic look. Nothing else. And yes you are right, visually SoDA is weak and animations are subpar. But i liked the gameplay of the game and they have some nice ideas with questing (not sure i like the stat modifying gear outside game, but means extra customization and if it’s well thought could work without ruining the balance). But in truth you wont see any realistic moba. For a moba to work it has to be fantasy or sci-fi. How many realistic abilities can you make on a character? You can make a few.. but how many characters can you make before going out of realistic abilities? There will never be a realistic moba.
My reply was only referring to the realistic look, which the previous comment was about.

          • Realism doesn’t mean only realistic characters like normal humans and thats it. It means having realistic effects such as weather conditions, wind, simulation on cloths or hair, smoke, fluids etc etc.. So I think this is what this game is about and i think it looks awsome so far and has a great potential. We sure need to see more gameplay and mechanics but so far i think has the potential to bring the moba genre into next generations games. Finally.

    • LOL I agree shouldve chosen a different name it sounds really lame and just like most games with lame name it probably wont be heard much of.

    • Yea i agree. First thing i thought when i read the mmobomb email was wtf is that?!?

They should have thought for a better name. If the trees do not spawn back, there are probably gonna be some games with no more forests left on the map. But no need to call your game deforestation lol.
I can bet they will change it until release. Sounds like a freaking woodcutting simulator now.

    • why do people keep saying there’s too many mobas, there’s too many mmorpg, there’s too many fps, there’s too many games! oh my god! what should we do?!!!?!?!?!?! dumb asses

    • I could stack my first master bedroom with shooters, my basement with RGP’s and my pool with fighting games, but I can only fill my pantry with MOBA’s, there aren’t that many around. Whoever started with that rumor has brain-washed the entire world thinking so. L O tothemotherfreaking L

      • i agree with reproducing, its making games cost more and it isnt the question of having too much mobas, its that everybody decided to make mobas in the same time period

    • OMFG!!!!!! WILL YOU STOP WITH THE TOO MANY!! OMG OMG OMG!!! SHTAAAAAP!!! its like you say too many, what the too many is people like you dude, do me a favor and cut your ***** so you wont multiply or respawn anymore.
