Fractured Online Weather System

Fractured Online's Closed Beta testers are in for a treat as they now have more to worry about than just enemies. Depending on a player's location, they’ll find themselves enjoying a clear, sunny day to then be fighting for their lives in a brutal blizzard, torrential thunderstorms, or even severe sleet storms. Through Fractured Online’s new temperature and weather system, players will need to prepare for the game’s ever-changing landscape at a moment’s notice as they traverse through the games many environments.

In Fractured Online, temperatures will vary depending on 3 main factors: world biome, time of day, and weather. Just as temperatures can influence the weather, it will also have an effect on the player’s stats as permanent Chilled or Warm status effects can negatively impact an ongoing adventure. However, Chilled and Warm status effects are not exclusive to the temperature system. Player spells can also cause the status effects to be triggered or negated, depending on the sorcery that’s used.

For the most part venturing unprepared into a very cold climate may trigger the “Chilled” status effect on the player. Alternatively, venturing into a very hot climate may trigger the “Warm” effect. The “Frozen” and “Burning” effects, which usually occur respectively at 100 Chilled and Warm stacks, are never triggered by temperature alone. Players should note that different character races have different tolerance thresholds to temperatures, which can be further modified by worn equipment, abilities, and potions (potions will be added once alchemy is introduced in a future update).

The best and most orthodox way to combat these negative effects is to wear appropriate equipment for the climate. While the temperature system is available from the patch released on April 27, the weather system is set to go live the following week. To read some in-depth examples just on how this new system will work, please feel free to read the official post made on Fractured Online’s site.
