FTC Wants More Details On Microsoft's 10-Year Deals With Nintendo And Nvidia

The plot thickens in regards to the overarching tale that is Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision/Blizzard.

Lawyers from the FTC are now requesting more information from the company, specifically regarding the recent 10-year deals with Nintendo and Nvidia. Both involve Microsoft providing cloud services to the platforms each company operates.

“Despite clearly intending to use these agreements in its defense, Microsoft has refused to produce underlying internal documents related to these agreements, or communications with third parties other than Nvidia, Nintendo and Sony,” the agency’s team wrote. “Microsoft should be not permitted to introduce or rely on these agreements without producing the requested underlying discovery.”

There are reportedly concerns about the potential anti-competitive effects of these deals, so the information requested pertains to how they could affect the company’s competitors throughout the cloud gaming market. Microsoft has been cooperating and has stated that, on the contrary, it believes the deals will benefit consumers.
