Genshin Impact’s Nod-Krai Update Is Out And It Feels Massive
Story-wise at least.
Depending on where you live, Genshin Impact’s latest update, Version Luna I, dropped today or even late last night. For me, it’s the latter. In general, unless something goes wrong – which I don’t believe has ever happened – the action RPG’s updates go live for me around 11:00 PM. The same is true of all of HoYoverse’s games.
Once the game is live, I immediately hop on and play until the new story content is done. In general, it takes me about four to five hours per patch to complete the main quest line and get to the point where it tells me I have to wait until the next update to continue. Again, this is pretty true of all of HoYo’s games. So, about every six weeks or so, I get in four or five hours of main story playtime and end up going to bed around 4:00 AM – at which point, I’m still left with events and side quests to do.
Yes, I know I should sleep, and just play the game in bits. But I was that kid who would stay up til the sun came up because there was a novel to finish. What do you want me to do?
When Version Luna I dropped last night, I expected more or less the same routine. And, I did stay up til 4 AM. And I completed an act of the Archon Quest… and then immediately rolled right into another. I was at the point where the conclusion screen popped up, was sure that’s where I would be left hanging, and was immediately thrust into the next chapter.
I stopped at that point and went to bed. Because, despite what everything I just stated may indicate, I do believe in sleep. But that leaves me with probably another four or five hours to go before I’ve completed the first part of my journey in Nod-Krai. I haven’t even gotten around to doing any of the side quests or other content that came with the game, such as the new, permanent Traveler’s Tales journal. And while I’ve met quite a few of the individuals teased in the Nod-Krai lore trailer, at this point, there are still some people missing.
Basically, the Genshin Impact team is messing around on this one. Of course, they shouldn’t be. This is everything that we’ve been dealing with over the last five years coming together.
With this update, players meet a whole roster of new characters, and three new characters, Lauma, Flins, and Aino, can join player rosters. In fact, one of them, Aino, will be rewarded to players just for making their way through the story – pretty early on, too, at that. Speaking of characters, the Genshin Team is also giving players a free 5-star character, allowing them to pick one of a select group.
On a separate note from the update, HoYo is preparing to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary, and part of that will be bringing back the Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program. That’ll be a two-hour stream taking place on September 20. The devs have also announced a collaboration with Among Us. It seems that it’s the Among Us players who will be benefiting from that, receiving a Paimon Cosmetic set to use on their characters.
