Going Free-To-Play Has Worked Out Well For PUBG: Battlegrounds Adding 80K Players A Day
Krafton reports a steady influx of over 80k new players a day.
Here’s some exciting news, if you’re Krafton games anyway. According to the company’s earning reports for the first half of 2022, the decision to move PUBG: Battlegrounds to free-to-play was the right way to go. Since the shift in January, the game has had an average of more than 80,000 daily users added per day. And, of course, they’ve seen more money with it – an increase of 20% across all platforms quarter over quarter. The result of all this is that the game is now ranked second in sales among the company’s mobile games and contributed heavily to the company’s $550.7 million revenue.
In addition to the increase in PUBG: Battlegrounds players, Krafton had other good news for their investors – provided everything goes well. The company announced a new Unknown World’s IP set in a sci-fi universe. Titled The Callisto Protocol, the game features “imaginative turn-based gameplay”. Those interested in finding out more about that game can find extended gameplay on IGN.
