Guild Wars 2 Adds Gliding In Central Tyria, Updates Shatterer Boss Fight
Ever since Heart of Thorns introduced gliders to Guild Wars 2, players have been plummeting to their deaths at a greater rate than ever -- not because there's anything wrong with the gliders, but because they were only functional in the new zones and that was easy to forget when returning to core Tyria. "I'll just glide down to that -- OH CRAP I DON'T HAVE A GLI"*splat*
Today's update changes all that. Gliders are now unlocked for all of the base part of the game, with exceptions for PvP instances, dungeons, and World vs. World (except Edge of the Mists). You'll still need to unlock the gliding mastery in Heart of Thorns content, but once that's done -- and it's pretty easy -- you'll be soaring across the Shiverpeaks.
And it's a good thing, too, because one of GW2's oldest bosses has some new tricks. The Shatterer has received a major update, making him more dangerous and a good deal more interactive than his old "stand by his foot and beat on him for 10 minutes" way of dispensing loot. You can read about the new Shatterer on the GW2 website, or check out my preview from a session last week.
The update adds a fair number of other improvements, such as a new Tybalt Leftpaw Mist Champion for Stronghold PvP, new markers and lieutenants for improved squad functionality, balance updates, and it also kicks off the Brew of the Month Club and Lunar New Year celebrations. You can get the lowdown on the entire update at the GW2 site.
