Hunt: Showdown, the FPS extraction shooter from Crytek, has been quietly growing very impressively over the last two years. As the game kicks off its 5th anniversary, it is currently seeing almost double the amount of average players on Steam each month compared to this time two years ago.
With steady updates adding new maps, hunters, events, and more being added at a steady clip and more backstory and lore being fleshed out in recent updates like the recent "Devil's Moon" update, it isn't hard to see why.
Successes aside, today marks a time to celebrate for both the Crytek team and Hunt: Showdown players as the title has leveled up and turns 5 years old.
To celebrate, the team is giving away a ton of legendary items and more in a rather large Twitch Drops event. If you've linked your Twitch and Hunt: Showdown accounts, then you are already set to go, but if not, here's how you can get that done.
Be warned, though. Some of the rewards, like the Legendary Hunter "Kill Buyer", will take some serious time investment to obtain, but if you were already going to watch Hunt: Showdown streams anyway, why not get rewarded for doing so?
For the REALLY serious stream watchers out there, you can even score new "Anniversary Crates" every two hours for a total of up to 4 crates per day during the event. These crates could have various items in them like weapons, equipment, and Hunt dollars. Specifically watching partners can net you an exclusive "Hera's Gift" weapon charm.
Outside of the crates and partner streams, here's the breakdown of your possible rewards and time investments:
Feb. 23 - March 2: Watch streams for 180 minutes to unlock Legendary Knife “The Marquis” Feb. 24 -
March 2: Watch streams for 180 minutes to unlock Legendary Weapon Bornheim No. 3 “Alley Cat”
Feb. 25 - March 2: Watch streams for 210 minutes to unlock the Legendary Mosin-Nagant M1891 Obrez “The Fifth Tale”
Feb. 27 - March 2: Watch streams for 210 minutes to unlock Weapon Charm “Gator Eye”
Feb. 28 - March 2: Unlock the Gator Eye as a prerequisite and watch streams for 240 mins to unlock Legendary Hunter “Kill Buyer”
Notice that while all events have the same end date, they do NOT have the same start date so depending on your personal schedule you may have to watch over multiple days.
