Final Fantasy XIV Yo-kai Crossover

Things are going to be a bit busy for Final Fantasy XIV players over the next two months. We’ve all been complaining about not having a lot to do in the MMORPG for a while now. It seems that’s not going to be a problem anymore, at least for some.

As revealed during the last Live Letter, the team has planned about four events over the next two months – and one of them kicks off next week. It’s also the one that will run the longest. You’ll see why.

On April 24, the Yo-kai Watch crossover event will kick off and it will stay live until the devs bring the servers down for pre-expansion maintenance. That means we’re looking at a full two months of chasing down Yo-kai. If you’re a minion collector, you’re probably going to need all that time because there are 17 different minions to collect. Not only that, but once players have discovered 13 Yo-kai and collected them as minions, they will also be given a mount.

If mounts and minions aren’t enough for you, there’s also a whole collection of Yo-kai-themed weapons available. Unfortunately, if your job of choice is Reaper or Sage, it seems you might be out of luck there. This is a returning event, so it seems they just chose to roll with what was implemented last time.

It’s worth noting that whatever you want out of this event, it all revolves around finding the Yo-kai and collecting their minions. They’re needed to unlock the weapons, too. To do this, you’ll need to equip your Yo-kai Watch and participate in fates in the A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood regions. Before all that, you’ll need to go to Ul’dah and talk to the Poor-heeled Youth to even get your watch. Details are, as always, available on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone.

On a tangentially related note (but we thought you’d appreciate knowing), if you’re a player of Final Fantasy XVI and a Torgal-enjoyer, the devs have made adjustments to petting times. They’ve lowered the amount of time you must wait to pet the very good boi.
