Stormhaven Studios, the developer behind upcoming indie sandbox MMORPG Embers Adrift, was busy over the holidays. Half a dozen videos have been posted to its YouTube channel since the start of the new year, including a cinematic trailer and several gameplay videos, which should whet the appetites of anyone looking forward to the game.

The offical trailer shows off the scenery, and a little of the life -- both wild and human -- while the voiceover says that "No one can tell you where to find it. There are no guides." Smart money would have you believe that there will be guides telling you where to find everything within two hours of the servers going live.

"It" in this case refers to ember, which is a mysterious substance that grants tremendous power to its bearers and can found in the Darklands, the dangerous realm where players will find themselves during the game. There are short and long gameplay videos to give you an idea of how things work, as well as a character creation video and more.

If yo're new to the game, as I was, you can hit up the Embers Adrift website and its FAQ for more info about the game, which is based around the pillars of a "sandbox environment" with "group-based gameplay" -- there's no PvP -- and an "immersive experience." The game will have a subscription, but no cash shop and will only be available on PC and MacOS. Stormhaven is gearing up for its Final Alpha Stage, and you can secure access by pre-ordering.
