Redfall is right on the horizon. It's an upcoming shooter from Arkane Studios, launching May 2. In the meantime, quench your thirst (for blood) just a little bit by learning about one of the character’s backstory and ability, which was just revealed on IGN.

Jacob Boyer grew up in a coal mining community and was placed in foster care where he learned to avoid attention. He enlisted in the military after a recruiter came to his high school and served in Afghanistan and Syria before being accepted into a Special Forces unit. After his discharge, he joined Bellwether, a PMC that involved itself in global conflicts.

Jacob was hired by an unknown client affiliated with Aevum Therapeutics and sent with his unit to Redfall on a secret mission. While there, he was captured by Miss Whisper, a vampire god, and had a psychic raven and strange eye forced on him for an unknown purpose.

During his time in foster care, Jacob cared for many cats and developed a fondness for them. He enjoys playing acoustic guitar, reading mystery novels, and writing poetry, particularly the works of Emily Dickinson. However, Jacob dislikes being on camera, caves, and people who hurt cats, which he has a burning hatred for.

As for his powers, besides being a vampire, Jacob is a sniper. He’s able to command his pet raven to fly around, marking enemies. Jacob may also use a cloak to hide from others. Additionally, he can summon a ghostly rifle to lock onto enemies and deal big damage.

In case you missed it by the way, check out the backstory and abilities of another character, Layla.
