Despite Maplestory 2 being in development, Nexon has yet to show any sign of slowing down support for the original. Case in point, Nexon just rolled out part one of their three part “Red” update dubbed ‘Impact’, which signals one of the game’s largest content additions in recent years. Explorer class revamps, a new zone, profession updates, mastery book changes, and even an anime trailer are all part of Nexon roll out of Red.

With all new skills and quests, the Explorers (The Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief, and Pirates) get a massive overhaul. The explorer family grew just a little bit in the update as well, with Dual Blades and Cannoneers being reclassified as explorers, now sharing the same cash shop inventories with the rest of the explorers.

Speaking of exploring, Dawnveil has a new trading hub for players to explore. Commerci, is a new region featuring a “dynamic day/night cycle” and also introduces a new trade system.

Despite being an international success for over a decade, admittedly, I have yet to jump on the Maplestory bandwagon. But this update might be just the reason to check it out. If you’re interested in the nitty-gritty details of the Red:First Impact update, the full details are on the update notes.

    • its far from silly lol the combat is great and the amount of things to do is nuts and the skill animations are also amazing. only downside (well not for me cause i love it) is the grinding u don’t rlly have to do quests or anything of tht sort its just grinding but i find it fun btw im 21 and have been playing this on and off for 5 years. best thing is when i get bored i can just take a break come aback and have a whole new slew of stuff to do. Even if u think its “silly” id suggest taking the time to at least give it a try. i would say start off on a suggested server or play with a friend if u have one because starting out is very difficult. Best time to start is during welcome events or when new characters are released (like zero on dec 18 would be the perfect time to make an acc and give it a try) don’t let the 2d turn u off because in reality the 2d adds a whole new dimension to to the game 🙂

      • The guy is right when it comes down to the amount of stuff to do. You can do so much, that you wont even be do it all in one day. The grindng isnt as bad as he makes it seem, yu can hit level 100 in 2 or 3 days, adnd if you play on the weekend during the 2x exp then u co u ld make it to lvl 100 in 2 days. What i like about maple story i s the amount of updates they keep throwing into the game. Right now during red we are getting a new class callex zero which uses a new tag system when fighting. They dont run off of mana but they run off of energy that refills really fast like 2 seconds if you’re not attacking. Anyways we always get new classes added in every so often with constant revamps, new skill animations, new weapons and armour, more of everything. The old maplestory didnt have the amount of things to do in it then this one did. You could make it to 140 without really feeling like youre grinding. The dailys u do give u a level or two depending on which one yo do and theybonly last something like 10 minutes. And you can do them as many times as you want……and if you dont feel like doing that go to work make some cash by mining, making pots, killing mobs for parts for gear crafting, and i mean its not like its hard to do………and it dont take that long to do it lol. Just check out the game, thought it was stupid before i played and now vBulletin i love the game. I always come back to it to check up on events and stuff. I just have so many characters that now im just waiting lol

  1. i haven’t put much time into this since they added the heroes, if this update nerfs them a bit i might give it another go. People are pretty hard on this game cause they take it so seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the people bashing games like this say anything positive about anything but fps’, high fantasy and mobas on this site. How’s that pro gamer career going guys?
