Mortal Online Devs Unleash Mortal Royale, A Bloody Battle Royale That (Conceivably) Supports 1,000 Players

If you're tired of football players and snowboarding in your battle royales, then maybe Mortal Royale will be more your style. The game comes from Star Vault AB, the makers of hardcore MMO Mortal Online, and promises 1,000 players per match in a melee-focused BR with plenty of stabbing, mounted combat, some magic, and absolutely, positively, nobody dressed as a pink teddy bear.

Given the game's roots, you'll be unsurprised to learn it plays much like Mortal Online, with all the gruesome hack-and-slash action present in that free-to-play MMORPG. That also comes at a price, as the visuals are a bit dated, which might explain why most of the trailer features no movement at all. Also, despite the possibility of 1,000-player battle royale action, it hasn't topped 100 players since its launch.

Mortal Royale is currently in alpha, with a planned launch in Q1 2019. You can check it out via the game's Steam page.
