New Study Shows Most Gamers Completely Avoid Playing Games With Toxic Communities
Who woulda' thunk it?
The toxicity of our community, our community.
A recent study by mental health nonprofit Take This and Nielsen research firm highlights the harmful impact of toxic gamers on multiplayer online games and the gaming industry as a whole.
The study, involving 2,328 participants in North America, found that 7 out of 10 gamers avoid multiplayer games with toxic communities. Additionally, about 6 out of 10 players are discouraged from spending money on games where they experience poor treatment, and the same number quit games due to harassment. Moreover, 7 out of 10 players steer clear of games known for having a negative community reputation.
The study suggests that addressing toxicity is crucial to attracting the next generation of gamers...imagine that.
