The two most-asked questions that Guild Wars 2 fans have been asking the past few years are: 1) When's the next expansion? and 2) I can haz Cantha? In a blog post today, ArenaNet revealed its plans for the near and distant future, and those two questions seem to have been answered in the affirmative.

As we already knew, next week will see the release of the next GW2 story chapter, Visions of the Past: Steel and Fire. In addition to exploring past missions in the GW2 storyline, the update will also give players the chance to craft a legendary amulet in PvP or legendary ring in WvW.

Following that will be the Super Adventure Festival, right on time around April Fool's Day, and the Dragon Bash during the summer. Between those will be the next chapter of the Icebrood Saga, which will include "a new Strike Mission with a different spin on gameplay mechanics" and a map that features WvW-like territory attack and control but for PvE.

All that leads up to the closing paragraph of the post, which explicitly announces that "Development is underway on a third Guild Wars 2 expansion." There's no other concrete information, but the image at the end of the post, seen above, seems to indicate one thing: Cantha, the focus of the original Guild Wars expansion Factions. It's a location Guild Wars fans have been yearning to explore practically since the sequel launched, and after eight years -- or more, since there's not indication of a time frame for its release -- they'll finally get it.
