Xbox Showcase: Free-To-Play Overwatch 2 Launches On October 4 With The New Hero Junker Queen
Players will be able to play the newest Overwatch Hero right from the start of early access.
The wait is almost over for Overwatch fans as Overwatch 2 is launching into early access with new PvP content on October 4 on Windows PC, the Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Overwatch’s 2 new PvP experiences are designed to offer players a new and fresh way to play competitively. The game is also said to have an updated free-to-play model with major game updates such as new heroes, hero reworks, maps, modes, and premium cosmetics.
Right from launch players will have the opportunity to get their hands on the newest tank hero, the Australian-born ruler of Junkertown, the Junker Queen herself. The Junker Queen is the second new hero revealed for Overwatch 2, following Sojourn–a high-mobility and railgun-wielding former Overwatch captain with cybernetic capabilities.
Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment said: "We can't wait to roll out the beginning of the Overwatch 2 experience on October 4 and introduce an exciting new competitive vision, featuring amazing new content and a reimagining of the iconic heroes, maps, and gameplay that made the original game so compelling. This is the beginning of an always-on and always-evolving era for the franchise, and a recommitment to serving players with frequent and substantial updates planned well into the future to keep Overwatch 2 fresh and fun for many years to come."
If players would like to hear more information on the early access announcement, please be sure to check out Overwatch 2’s Reveal Event livestream on Youtube or Twitch this Thursday, June 16, at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
