Leave it up to Perfect World Entertainment, a company whose name regularly takes up a third of an article title, to release an action MMORPG with an even longer name, talk about a journalistic headache. Legend of the Condor Heroes: Zero is Perfect World’s first in-house action MMO and currently, one which is only available in China. To be more specific, it isn’t even available in China yet save for a limited testing period which began this week.

But this article isn’t about the fact Legend of the Condor Heroes began it’s initial testing phase. While nice to know, the US/EU release is still a ways off (if at all), but given Perfect World International’s publishing record, it’s fairly safe to assume the MMO is headed here soon after. As the title suggests, this article’s purpose is to draw your attention towards the lovely new gameplay trailer PWI released to celebrate the game’s test phase debut.

The trailer represents some of our first glimpses of the game’s locales, UI, characters and of course, combo-infused combat in action. Observant readers may notice some of the zone designs appear to be closed off with what look to be instance portals at certain points in the gameplay. This suggests that at least some (but perhaps not all) of Legend of the Condor Heroes’ gameplay may be leaning towards the dungeon-crawler style of zones found in other action MMOs like C9, with central hubs connecting them together.

Legend of the Condor Heroes: Zero is set in a period of Chinese fiction called “wuxia” and its story is inspired by the works of Jin Yong, one of China’s best known fantasy writers.

Thanks, MMOCulture.

Wow! This looks reaaally smooth and the “Travel Powers” are way more advanced than that of AoW and Swordsman. I can’t wait to play this game. Hopefully it comes out before Dragon Ball Online though…because when Dragon Ball Online comes out, I plan to devote a lot of my MMO Gaming time to DBO!

    • Darkkrixx on January 11, 2014

Yea and it’s sad because the was more interesting than many other mmo ! It was a monster hunter like with pvp and focused on crafting. Very sad that it’s dying

      • no name on January 14, 2014

pretty sure it’s dead already everywhere but NA

  9. Mr.7 on January 10, 2014

looks better than blade and soul, in terms of gameplay that is. Tried both the SK and CN versions, just wasn’t fast and fluid enough 5 me

  10. Zopto on January 10, 2014

hmm graphic is low just bcs they used jade dynasty engine ….
but gameplay looks cool and fast i will try it anyway
graphic is not all in game!

  11. Allwynd on January 9, 2014

  12. GamingMaster on January 9, 2014

As MegaExploit said It looks very similar to Dynasty Warriors, Lets see if this is a true F2P though

  13. MegaExploit on January 9, 2014

    Looks like Dynasty Warriors! 😀

  14. Cacalips on January 9, 2014

LOL the game is soo shittayyyy. Seriously. PWE, it is game over. Look at all the other titles that looked awesome at release. Forsaken World (actually still “looks” awesome but plays like stuffing bananas in the ears). JAde Dynasty, etc.. BArfff….barffff…*coughs and chokes on the barf chunks*…expect pay to win mechanics or waste 15 years of life trying to out beat the cash shop. Expect more stale chinese lore and broken translations. Expect rip offs of other titles that are big in Korea, any one notice most games keep trying to throw in “gliding”??? thanks to Blade and SOul OB, every one is going “gliding” -.-. Food for sheep.

    • DracCusS on January 9, 2014

I actually disagree with you, most pwe games are awsome and have a great gameplay also the graphics aren’t that bad…both for a low-medium spec computer and a high spec one. Also the item shop each game has, isn’t pay to win… Mostly it offers fashion and utility stuff like mounts…
Also just to remind you, pwe games have been on the top lists for quite a long time, and by saying a long time i mean a really long time…I have tried many mmorpgs, and in general mmos, but i always end up on pwe games
*REMINDER* My opinion, some people forget this *REMINDER*

      • Oh lawd. on January 9, 2014

“The item shop each game has isn’t p2w”

It’s literally the main reason people hate most of their games.

      • yomomma on January 13, 2014

i take a shit on your opinion

      • Bic Boi on January 16, 2014

Drac, just because it’s your opinion doesn’t make it holy ground. If anything your views are kinda cute and naive, like you don’t know any better. Play Forsaken World and tell me that the game isn’t pay2win when the only way to get any currency to buy anything except pots and crappy low level gear..is to farm your ass off repeatedly in dungeons.

Meanwhile you can pay real money to get midas’ statues and turn that into currency to use on the auction hall. Yeah, there are two currencies; soul coins, the crap currency that is nearly useless and can’t be traded..and then the real currency you earn by having either a) no life farming dungeons or b) paying real money for statues.

That is the very definition of Pay to Win. You defend PWE but honestly I believe you’re either blind to reality or don’t know any better.

Why dsnt these companies give us the game evyone wants. DmC/GOW/MGR combat style but in an mmo. is that too much to ask for?

    • Razer on January 8, 2014

I imagine lag/server load might be a barrier. Wake me up when MMORPGs stop using wimpy and archaic combat systems.

      • Bic Boi on January 16, 2014

C9’s combat is pretty much DMC if you go with a class like Hunter and advance to get twin swords. Aerial combos, rapid dodging and all. So I don’t really believe it’s a lag issue. Granted it’s instanced but there you go.

  16. Lithkul on January 8, 2014

….you used dragon rider from two steps for hell for this pos….if you’re going to rip off a song for a trailer least have it fit properly, also when they are so lazy they don’t put their own music in you know the game is going to suck heavily for forseeable future.

  17. Urs0 on January 8, 2014

it looks nice… it seems to have instance based, I hope not, but I will play it anyway, at least it has some interesting moves and characters

just one correction, the name of the company that develops the game is Perfect World (PWRD), the publisher here in the west is Perfect World Entertainment (PWE) and the game that is called Perfect World International (PWI)

age of wushu movement in a game with gameplay that actually looks good? im totally in

    • Allwynd on January 9, 2014

im looking forward to it too, but remember how age of wushi trailers and screenshots looked good?

and then the game turned out really bad
      same was with allods

now aura kingdom looks good, im playing it, i have a great dual class character, but im already feeling that the game doesnt have much potential, so after a few more hours of play i will probably leave it and go back to aliance of valiant arms or vanilla world of warcraft

    • yomomma on January 13, 2014

cof cof* bns takes a big shit on those 2 games

  19. Repi on January 8, 2014

I would totally play if the combat is fast and fluid. I would assume so considering its combo based, but considering the graphics… I’m not so sure.

In case anyone is wondering, the song is Dragon Rider – Two Steps From Hell

    • Thanks on January 9, 2014

Thanks, was wondering about the song in fact xP

    • a on January 9, 2014

it’s 2014 and people still like DFO

  22. PvtLaw on January 8, 2014

I’ve been following this game because it reminds me of a game I used to play 3-4 years ago, named Conquer Online. Condor Heroes Zero looks like a 3D upgrade of that game, artwork and culture-wise. Definately gonna try once it gets released.

  23. extasist on January 8, 2014

im not giving any hype to any game until i can try it my self, most of the time games with high hype is pretty big disappointment.

Blade and Soul clone, with bad graphics (version chinese)

    • FloydFlow on January 9, 2014

Can be, but Blade and Soul still on closed alfa, and this one looks really great, have not too much graphics but look tha the world will be really amazing with big high combos combination. I have proved Blade and soul, and isn´t that great likes look like, is Great of course, but I found it a little too confused on so much ways, so much dialogs..

  25. sdrawrawr on January 8, 2014

looks cool and i like the theme of it.

  26. Adori on January 8, 2014

Hope this will not be a full instance game… But still lookin great!

    • ShinigamIan on January 10, 2014

Yep, pretty sure its full instanced. Cant find a reason to play this instead of Vindictus, C9 or Dragon Nest.

  27. Boom! on January 8, 2014

I prefer games like this more than a new MOBA.

    • Aeryoth on January 10, 2014

Yea, this game looks good. I would try it. Better than that poop aura kingdom.. not to mention the pure shiit aeriagames

      • no name required on January 11, 2014

except that this doesn’t look all that different from other games of the same type either, so aura kingdom is still an ok choice

      • Aeeeeeeoth on January 11, 2014

honestly, i would’ve agreed with you, if it weren’t for perfect world handling the game

      • lenwe on January 12, 2014

you think aeriagames are pure shit? wait till you see the definition of shit when you visit PWE’s grounds.. both the games i played that were published by them got completely ruined by bad servers, bad support, completely ridiculous forums rules and mods and, the most irritating thing ever… complete lack of content and years between updates. yep… thats PWE in a nutshell

        • akpa on January 18, 2014

i played all the games from PWE and i am a daily player of star trek online.
the graphic in PWE games is good/awesome, storyline is great, is not p2w too much, servers at the moment are very stable ( i don t know how you could say they have bad servers),
the support comes with big delay and does nothing
the games like all the mmos are grinding orientated and you have to play everyday if you want to do something in the game and not to wait a year to get some cool items/mounts/ships
if you are not full retard and you are a normal human or just half retard you can do all the content in every game with white gear and with 2 levels under you
