Steampunk ARPG Crystalfall’s First Content Update To Address “Key Player Concerns”
The game’s first patch will address issues with content, quality of life, and monetization.

Despite drawing a lot of attention during Steam Next Fest, Crystalfall hasn’t achieved the success that CRG Studio would hope since entering Early Access. Currently, the free-to-play steampunk-themed ARPG boasts a little under 500 reviews, most of them negative. The complaints revolve around things like a lack of engaging content, the overall quality of life, and (what seems to be most predominant) the game’s monetization. A cursory look at the reviews showed several players have an issue with the cost of inventory tabs.
Today, CRG Studio announced plans to address those issues with the game’s first content update on June 4. The update will introduce new content “while deepening progression systems across the board” and introducing a “modifiable endgame”. A list of features in the press release include 57 new unique items and skills, 7 new mobs, a skill quality upgrade mechanic, a more customizable talent tree with multiple choice nodes, different rarities for endgame anomalies, lootable endgame cargo items, and cargo quest objectives. QoL-wise, players can expect a loot filter, the ability to buy a stash tab for shards (note that’s 1 stash tab), and the beginnings of a WASD movement control option. Of course, there are the standard balance and performance updates as well.
To address the monetization concerns, the devs have provided a completely separate list of things they’re doing. This includes the following:
- The new patch one cosmetics will be added to Founder Packs.
- Gold Founders will have their names immortalized in the game on a Founder Stone when the game officially releases.
- That $20 inventory tab cost is permanently being reduced from 150 to 75 in-game Credits (7.5 USD).
- A 50 in-game Credit top-up option is being introduced.
- The Platinum Founder Pack will no longer be available to purchase.
