Hearthstone Mercs

When Hearthstone’s Patch 25.4 drops, it will make several changes to Mercenaries – beginning with the addition of six new mercs – the final ones planned for the mode. And… based on the picture, they appear to consist of a Siamese cat and a ghost dog. Cute! Once they’re in, the game will feature more than 120 Mercenaries for players to collect.

As this update is primarily focused on Mercenaries, the devs have decided to introduce a new dual-type system. This allows them to have two different types “to better represent their identities”. These will be things like Human-Undead. Some Mercs will also gain factions. These will be indicated by a flag on the card. There will be seven in all – including Horde and Alliance. The addition of factions also means that abilities, equipment, and treasure have been reworked to account for them.

To complete their work on Mercenaries, the Hearthstone devs are also introducing the Mythic Boss Rush end-game system. This is weekly content in the form of a gauntlet of various bosses with randomized elements. A new boss rush unlocks every day throughout the week, and features 3 “Bounty Boss fights”, in a row, culminating in a final boss that’s really two bounty bosses at once. Successful completion each week will earn players more Renown. Full details on how the new system will work can be found on the Hearthstone blog.

Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
