Uncover Conspiracies And Fight Giant Cats In Your Downtime In Where Winds Meet's Latest Update
The first half of the Imperial Palace update is live.

After experiencing the past through the eyes of those who have lived there, it’s time for Where Winds Meet players to return to Kaifang in the present. More specifically, it’s time to uncover what lies behind the heavily guarded walls of the Imperial Palace. Although it won’t be easy. After all, it’s not like you’ve been sent an invitation… at least not by someone who is actually permitted to send one. But when has something like the lack of a formal invitation ever stopped the Young Wanderer?
Phase one of the free-to-play Wuxia action RPG’s latest update, The Imperial Palace, launched today, kicking off the next stage of the player’s adventure as they find themselves in the middle of a few conspiracies and mysteries. I was offered the chance to play the update ahead of time, and while I don’t want to spoil anything for you, I can tell you that the story contains multiple mysteries.
The whole affair kicks off with a bit of a misunderstanding – that our hero doesn’t seem inclined to correct any time soon – that has them making their way into the palace, though… shall we say… back channels?. There is a fair bit of running and sneaking around. Along the way, you’ll run into someone you know, but aren’t exactly good friends with. You’ll also meet a new, mysterious individual who doesn’t appear to be part of anyone’s plan.

The Imperial Palace update is being released in two patches. The first portion dropped today, bringing the largest palace-themed area so far to the game. It’s over 1 million square meters and is the second largest area in the game. Kaifeng City is the first. Of course, it might be difficult to discern that since Where Winds Meet is an open-world game without major barriers blocking the various areas.
In addition to the story, the update introduces plenty of side content for players. For instance, you can eavesdrop on all the conversations taking place in the palace. Just don’t do it too much. Unless you want your ears to transform.
As part of the current story content, players will experience life in the palace. After all, you have to stay under the radar. What better way than posing as someone who works there? Probably a good thing they’re in need of help.
New bosses will be introduced as well. This includes a giant cat boss that players can unlock through fishing quests. It looks cute, but looks can be deceiving.
