War Thunder Turns 12 Years Old And There's A Free Tank (And Other Extras) Waiting For You
A new gameplay trailer shows exactly why the cinematics team deserves some paid vacation.
I remember when War Thunder was just getting ready to release back in 2012. I was working over at GameBreaker at the time and we had quite a few promotions with them. At the time, it was easy to look at Gaijin Entertainment's strategy game as just another clone in the spirit of World of Tanks. Little did I know back then just how in-depth the game would become, and I certainly wouldn't have bet on it being around over a decade later.
Here we are, though. War Thunder turns 12 years old today. While there's been some sales in their shop for a few weeks now to celebrate, we don't typically cover game sales. They have their own advertising budget for that and we don't need to be free advertising.
Things change a bit today, though, as the anniversary kicks off in earnest and the freebies are flowing. If you complete War Thunder's "Dreams Come True" event, you'll pick up a decoration, two decals, and a new tank to add to your arsenal. The KV-7 Soviet tank destroyer first appeared in 1941 and sports 3 different guns.
If you want to take a shot at other prizes, make sure to visit the team's anniversary streams starting November 15th. Multiple winners can take home the IS-7 in addition to other prizes.
Finally, make sure to watch the new game trailer below. War Thunder's cinematics team needs a raise or a paid vacation. It's an amazing trailer and has serious "James Bond Opening" vibes and some tremendous vocals performed by Rachel Farago.
