War Thunder’s Ninth Wave Major Update Improves The Look Of Naval Battles With Improved Water Visuals
And, yes. There are new vehicles.

War Thunder’s Ninth Wave Major Update is now live on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Of course, the update introduces new vehicles to the free-to-play war shooter, such as the Chinese J-15T multirole carrier-based combat aircraft, the Italian wheeled tank Centauro II, and the Russian anti-aircraft artillery system Pantsir-SM-SV. There’s also the French aircraft carrier Foch. There are dozens of new vehicles for players to pick up.
As excited as the team is about those, the press release begins with hyping up a complete redesign of water physics. The rework introduces subsurface scattering that affects how light interacts with objects located beneath the water’s surface. The rework also includes improved sea foam rendering based on “swirl physics and wave resonance” and improves how objects and water interact. That means explosions should be more realistic. So, prepare for prettier booms, which is what we all know you’re really there for. A rundown of new vehicles and other new content is available on the War Thunder Site.
