War Thunder's new update is titled "Starfighters" and no, it's not adding X-Wings or TIE Fighters to the game. It does add the next best thing, as real-life aircraft go, in the form of the F-104 Starfighter and the Mirage IIIC supersonic fighter jets, along with the Italian Navy and cross-console multiplayer action.

Multiple versions of the F-104 are available in the game, including the F-104A, which boasts a six-barrel M61 Vulcan rotary cannon two Sidewinder missiles. (So there might not be any spaceships from Star Wars, but there is a Vulcan!) The Mirage is a French design that was the first European aircraft to exceed Mach 2 that even has a loadout with a rocket engine for additional thrust.

The Italian Navy gets more than 20 new vessels, including the Trento heavy cruiser, which brings the pain in the form of eight main cannons, four torpedo tubes, and loads of anti-aircraft guns. Ground forces also receive a boost, with over a dozen new vehicles, including the experimental HSTV-L American light tank. That stands for "High Survivability Test Vehicle Lightweight" and it comes with a powerful 75mm main gun with an impressive vertical traverse.

Also, with this update, all War Thunder players can finally play with each other regardless of platform. Full cross-play is now enabled for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One players, so you'll never run out of opponents. Learn more about this plus-sized update on the War Thunder site.
