Blue Protocol: Star Resonance To Launch Next Month In China, Global Release Later This Year
The anime-style MMORPG formerly known as Blue Protocol is almost here.
Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, the upcoming anime-style MMORPG from Shanghai Bokura Network Technology, will officially launch in China on July 17, with a global release expected later this year.
In a new letter to players, producer Dai Yi shared insights into the game’s vision, mechanics, and long-term goals.
Built around classic MMORPG systems, Star Resonance features familiar archetypes like Tank, DPS, and Healer roles, as well as dungeon crawling, open-world exploration, world bosses, and a flexible multi-class system. Seasonal updates are planned every three months. The game also emphasizes lifestyle and social features — including housing, professions, and guilds — to create a virtual space where players can connect, build, and thrive together.
Drawing inspiration from Sword Art Online and Blue Protocol, the developers aim to deliver more than just anime visuals. Their goal is to craft a true "anime MMO" — not simply themed, but fundamentally rooted in traditional MMO design. After years of testing and iteration, the team continues to refine the game’s art, sound, and systems, while acknowledging the challenges of working with fewer resources than major studios. Rather than follow trends, they’re focused on building something meaningful, with a strong commitment to community, transparency, and long-term evolution.
