Upcoming War Thunder "Leviathans" Update Features Most Legendary Battleships In Naval History
We're talking the Japanese Yamato, the German Bismarck, and the British Vanguard.
Gaijin Entertainment has announced the “Leviathans” update for War Thunder, set to release this month.
The free-to-play shooter is getting some of the most legendary battleships in naval history, according to the developers — including the Japanese Yamato, the German Bismarck, and the British Vanguard. The update will feature a range of new military vehicles for all in-game nations too.
The IJN Yamato boasts nine 460 mm main guns— the largest caliber ever mounted on a warship — along with tough armor, a cutting-edge fire control system, and over 150 anti-aircraft guns. Yamato withstood a U.S. aerial onslaught before being sunk near the end of World War II.
The Bismarck gained infamy during its first mission when it sank the British HMS Hood in just five salvos and severely damaged the Prince of Wales. The British Royal Navy eventually brought the Bismarck down, as it sailed alone. It is armed with eight powerful and accurate 380 mm guns, and features fast reload speed and deadly precision.
The HMS Vanguard is the last battleship ever built. It features tanky armor, 15-inch guns, and advanced air defenses that include radar and remote-controlled gun systems.
There’s also South Africa’s Badger IFV for land combat, which is equipped with a 30 mm cannon and modern optics for long-range precision. And the Japanese F-2A fighter jet is being added for the air; it features advanced avionics, AESA radar, and new missile types like the ASM-1, ASM-2, AAM-3, and AAM-4.
