Wayfinder Delays Global Closed Beta Launch A Couple Of Weeks Due To Server Issues
“Substantial connection and matchmaking issues” discovered during prep for beta and early access are taking longer to address than hoped.
Those waiting to take part in Wayfinder’s global closed beta event have likely noticed that it did not start yesterday, as expected. Unfortunately, Airship Syndicate and Digital Extremes have been forced to delay the test after discovering what they’re calling “substantial connection and matchmaking issues”. This discovery came while the development team was working to prepare the game for both the closed beta test and the upcoming Early Access. The developers note that they’re working with a “relatively small team” for what they’re trying to accomplish all at once.
During this work, the team discovered the issues mentioned above and had to decide between just rolling with the issues being part of the test – which would obviously frustrate players – or delaying and fixing them. The original hope was to get the issues fixed quickly but, as it turns out, more time is needed. For this reason, they’re delaying the launch of the Global Closed Beta to May 24.
In addition to updating players on the state of the closed beta test, the post on the Wayfinder site also mentioned one other thing – the current NDA. The developers note that for them the tests are actually tests and not marketing events, as they often are with games. For this reason, the NDA is still in place, but the post also promises that once they feel the game is in a good place “both in gameplay and server stability” they’ll be lifting the NDA.
