According To Rumors, The End of Marvel's Avengers Is Coming, No Plans For Content Additions Past 2023
Kind of amazed it has lasted as long as it has...
Boy has it been a difficult road for Marvel's Avengers. Granted, you have to acknowledge how many of the game's failings and woes were self-inflicted, but that doesn't mean you can't be disappointed at how far from expectations the game actually fell.
From a promise to not include "P2W" elements being broken then backtracked, to a lack of diversity in mission types and long term content, all the way to the removing of leadership just 2 weeks ago after questionable past tweets emerged... it's basically just been a damn mess for our "not quite movie lookalike" heroes.
Honestly, it's kind of amazing that the game is still running and still getting new content and heroes and skins.
Although if a new report from eXputer's Miller Ross is correct, the end is nigh.
In addition to also breaking down the past issues with Marvel's Avengers, Ross claims that sources have told him that the studio has already been preparing to sunset the game in 2023 and there is no content planned at this time for 2024.
We'd be kind of amazed if the content and heroes planned for 2023 even see the light of day at this point. Given the sale of the studio by Square Enix and the shifting of development internally (one of the primary reasons given for She-Hulk's delay)... it just isn't looking good.
Yeah, if you want to try the game, you'd best do it sooner rather than later at this point.
