ArcheAge II Announcement

News for ArcheAge fans! Whether it’s good or bad depends on your perspective, we suppose. Today, Kakao Games and XLGAMES announced that the two companies have signed a publishing agreement for the next game in the ArcheAge franchise, ArcheAge 2. That means two things…there’s going to be an ArcheAge 2, and the game is far enough along for the developer to bother worrying about a publishing agreement.

In fact, the game has a loose release date and it’s not a whole decade out. (Guilty game devs know who we’re talking about.) According to the press release, the game is expected to launch in 2024. Provided they stick to that, players are looking at anywhere from a bit over a year to a bit over two years, max.

XLGAMES’ CEO Jake Song is leading the game’s development and has stated that “expectations for ArcheAge 2 are high” due to it being a big title that they’ve put “years of development knowledge and experience” into. He also added that they “hope to create a high-quality game that remains faithful to the core elements that make MMORPGs fun – especially for all the ArcheAge players who have been waiting for a sequel”.

Currently, no site or videos are available for ArcheAge 2, but, if you’d like to keep an eye out, the press release directs players to the general ArcheAge site. That’s likely where new information will start popping up first.
