Arknights: Endfield Release Special Program Provides Details On The Game's Monetization System

This morning, Gryphline hosted its first Special Program for Arknights: Endfield, the free-to-play anime-style strategy RPG launching next week. The stream lasted a little over an hour, and during that time, the devs offered information on the game’s post-apocalyptic world – Talos-II. During the stream, players can get a look at the characters they’ll be able to roll on at launch, as well as the factory simulation features unique to the game.

As shown in the stream, players will interact with the world in much the same way they would any open-world action RPG. That said, there are key differences, such as needing to build and maintain factories to obtain important resources. The game also has a unique mobility system in which players can build their own zip-line routes. And some of the open-world puzzle elements will also require players to do a bit of building.

At launch, the game will have two zones players can explore as well as more social features. These are all covered in the stream.

For those wondering about the game’s monetization, that was covered as well. The game’s gacha system (or “Headhunting”) is divided into three types: Basic, New Horizons, and Chartered. The stream explains the New Horizons version first since the other two have more similarities.

New Horizons immediately offers the chance to pick up six-star operators, and as Permits for this type of headhunting are earned through completing main missions, players don’t need to worry about spending money on it. Even more, upon completion of the banner, players will earn players one six-star character. So there’s at least one guaranteed.

Basic and Chartered banners both have a pity system in which players are guaranteed a six-star Operator within 80 pulls. In addition, on the Basic banner, players will also be able to obtain a six-star Operator of their choice when hitting 300 pulls. It’s the fairly standard system most gacha players are familiar with.

That said, Chartered does differ in that the current rate up character is guaranteed within 120 pulls. And at 60 attempts, players will receive an item known as a “Headhunting Dossier” that can be converted into a special 10xPermit for the next banner. Even more. If you don’t manage to get the Operator on its banner, it could still drop in the next two banners. It will just won’t have a rate up during the second two banners.

The game will also provide players with a free 10x pull after 30 Chartered Headhunting attempts. This does not count toward the guaranteed six-star, but it doesn’t reset the guarantee if a player manages to pull a six-star using it.

Arknights: Endfield is scheduled to launch around 8 PM Eastern time on January 21. Players will be able to pre-download the client on January 20. If you haven’t preregistered, you can still do so. If you’re planning on playing, you might as well go ahead and do that since the stream also offered two redemption codes: RETURNOFALL and ALLFIELD.
