Fans of Webzen’s upcoming Free to Play shooter Arctic Combat will find both joy and despair with the latest news concerning the open beta date announcement. Webzen revealed this week that the open beta for Arctic Combat was set to start on December 6th.

Although it is great to have a date it may bum a few fans out who were expecting a much quicker transition from closed beta to open. Especially since the second closed beta session lasted from October 10th to only October 21st. Strangely the client is still advertised as available and open for players to download and play even though the servers were taken down at the end of the closed beta.

Did you get a chance to check out AC during the last closed beta phase? Do you believe that Webzen has a lot to accomplish before December 6th? Let us know why!

  1. Webzen isnt all to bad. C9 is pretty decent. Everything else is meh or bad. Arctic Combat falls under bad. Its just another cheaply made/copy FPS thats meant to get the attention of kids or COD fans(is there really a difference?)

  2. Medicore. The only thing that keeps it from a full zero is that it has branched paths to avoid a zergy hallway and keep some kind of balance between ranged, close and sniper combat. The bad is that animations and hit boxes are WHAK. It reminds me of Doom when you turn, the character stays in place but the animation does a turn like pose and you move in that direction after a split second pause. IT was like that. Hard to explain unless you play but something felt off about it. You will feel animation and hit box issues when enemies go full prone under the lip of a stair.
Total spray and pray friendly. Not allot of skill required when shooting. I found REPULSE online (discontinued) very similiar to this game. All and all it was better than allot of crap out there, but still a large dissapointment in FPS titles. No one really getting it right unless you pay for a box title.
Come on Planet Side 2! Lets see what you got!
Oh and planet Side 1 going F2P at PS2 launch I guess.

    • Another thing I was not a fan off: Look at the video, look at the maps, then REALLY look at the graphics. There are allot of square desing. Square map with square buildings and this forces square corner combat, meaning you just shoot the edge of a door for a sure shot.
Sometimes there are textured terrains with lumps and bumps to hide in, but it is rare, small, and wide open.
Just look at that video and image the skin removed. Square door, square window, square tiles, square pole, square squares..Play a game like War Inc. Battlezone and youll see what full textured environment combat is like. The un even round edges of rocks, trees, and broken walls, the multilevel buildings with holes and wood slats and all angles, there is no corner of a square to focus on and it leaves you with a sense of awareness and true combat.

  3. i guess the date for the open beta is…

    • LOL XD Yes IK, the only people who will like this game are COD fans. First time I played it I instantly thought of COD 4. Sorry for comparing this game to it but its extremely similar to it.

IMO its good free 2 play title but released way to late. 2012 release is not good if it released in ’07-’09 it would be a perfect launch. So I think it will be real popular for the first yr then rapidly drop. 🙂

      • COD Online, a free MMOFPS is coming out soon. This means there practically no reason to play this game. If you want free COD, you’re going to have it pretty soon.
