Check Out Last Month's Guild Wars 2 Concert Performance
On March 29, the Evergreen Philharmonic Orchestra put on a stirring rendition of selected musical numbers from Guild Wars 2. If you weren't lucky enough to be in attendance, ArenaNet has posted a video of the event on its YouTube channel.
I've only listened to part of it, but as a (lapsed) GW2 fan, I find it a beautiful and haunting performance. And that was even before I found out about the relative inexperience of the musicians involved:
This is a professional training orchestra that prepares its members - local area high school students - to be independent, functional musicians, some of whom go on to enjoy playing as amateurs in local community orchestras, and some who go to major conservatories and professional careers.
Kids these days, being all artistic and productive instead of playing video games. What is the world coming to?
