Destiny Made More Than $160 Million Through Microtransactions In Under Two Years
According to a former employee, the franchise also achieved its highest post-launch expansion attach ever at 48%.
Would you have guessed that Destiny makes some serious bank? Ok, you probably would, but its microtransaction bank is seriously high!
According to former Activision Global Associate Consumer Marketing Manager Matt Welsh, the Destiny franchise generated over $160 million in microtransaction revenue between November 2017 and February 2019. This information was grabbed from his LinkedIn profile (before it got removed). “The result was the highest post-launch expansion attach ever for the franchise at 48% and $160 million in MTX revenue,” he noted.
And these numbers only span over less than two years. The overall stats are much, much higher. Also, these figures are from the period when Activision was the publisher of Destiny; now, the game uses a self-publishing model under Bungie.
