Diablo Immortal’s Legendary Crests Are Getting A Visual Tweak So You Can Actually Tell The Difference For The Cash Ones
Players will now be able to tell them apart from Eternal Legendary Crests…which you may not have even realized was a thing.
Blizzard is making at least one change to the questionable monetization in Diablo Immortal. About two months after YouTubers pointed out how the game’s Crest system was designed to confuse players, making Legendary Crests obtained through the game and Eternal Legendary Crests obtained through the game’s store look visually the same in the game’s system.
Both of these items allow players to get gems in Elder Rifts, but there is a big difference. The ones available freely through the game only allow players to obtain bound gems while the ones bought through the store can be sold on the market – meaning those who spend real-world money could have more in-game currency.
Of course, players figured this out. YouTuber Josh Strife Hayes created a video outlining the problem. Not surprisingly, it was a supplement to a previous video on Diablo Immortal’s questionable monetization practices.
Now, it seems that’s changing. A post on Reddit revealed that a new, alternative crest design has been created for the regular Legendary Crest, making it stand out from the purple Eternal Legendary Crest. According to PCGamesN, the game’s Lead Designer Wyatt Cheng confirmed the change noting that the intention was to create some clarity between the two.
Of course, the question is whether or not the change would have been made at all had players not drawn attention to it.
