Genshin Impact's Big Update Arrives July 21, Here's Stream Codes You Can Use Today Only!
Alright, fellow Genshin Impact fans, today's a day with exciting news. The game's next big expansion, "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia" will finally bring the nation of Inazuma -- along with several new characters -- to players that have been waiting (im)patiently for them to arrive. In fact, we don't have too long to wait as Version 2.0, introduces the island nation on July 21.
Today, miHoYo offered players information on the upcoming launch with a slightly different version of the Special Program hosted by miHoYo co-founder and CEO Liu Wei (otherwise known as Da Wei). Unlike previous Special Programs hosted by Genshin Impact's Traveler and other characters found in Teyvat, this stream featured several members of the Genshin Impact team offering insight to the game's design process. The result was something that focused a bit less on specific "this is exactly what to expect" content and more on "this is how we created what's coming".
What we do know is that Inazuma consists of six islands hidden away by a storm, and that when players get there they will meet not only the three characters that can be added to their roster, but many others, including the Electro Archon. It will feature new items and game mechanics built around the electricity, including electric-specific puzzles. Of course there will be new monsters to fight as well, including the new Pyro Hypostasis. And, since Inazuma is inspired by Japan, animals such as the Shiba Inu dog and the Tanuki can be seen running around. (Actually, the dog can be found running a tea house.) Here's hoping they're added to the Teapot critter list.
Speaking of the Sereniteapot, gardening is on its way. In fact, the stream demonstrates how players can not only plant items in their Teapot, but actually plant things found in Teyavat. As with acquiring materials to build structures in the Teapot, players will need to gather seeds to be able to plant various plants found throughout the world in the Teapot.
Story-wise players can look forward to two new Archon quests. We'll also be introduced to the three new playable characters, Kamisato Ayaka: the daughter of the Yashiro Commission's Kamisato Clan, Yoimiya: a Pyro archer who is also an expert on fireworks, and Sayu: a tiny ninja with a big sword. All three characters will be available in a wish banner event at some point -- starting with Ayaka at launch.
The update will also add cross-save for PlayStation, PC, and mobile devices as well as more refined character shading, and Haptic Feedback support for the PS5 DualSense controller.
As far as events go, it looks like we can expect a few popular ones to return. A new version of the Theater Mechanicus will be back with a few Inazuma-themed changes and, if you missed out on getting a Mini Seelie the first time around, there will be another chance to do that as well (or get the next color if you already have one, I suppose). If you don't have Beidou yet, there will also be a special event in which she's one of the rewards.
Of course, while this stream was a bit different -- you can watch below to see -- it did still include three codes for in-game items, which we've included here. The codes are valid until the end of the day, so hurry up and use them.
