Islands Of Insight Development Ceasing, Offline Mode Will Be The Only Way To Play After October 30th
The Lunarch Studios development team is available for new work.
Today's announcement is exactly why I wanted Islands of Insight to have an offline mode so badly when it launched. While initially the puzzle MMO only offered an online experience, the "MMO" offerings in the game seemed very limited and there wasn't much incentive to play in groups at all. I loved my experience in the game and certainly didn't want to see the title disappear in the event of development ceasing.
Thankfully that offline mode was eventually added, and it's a good thing as today Lunarch Studios announced they would be halting further development when the final update to Islands of Insight drops on October 30th.
That date will also see the game's online mode shuttered. If you want to play the game in offline mode after that, you'll be able to do so, but you'll want to transfer your online progress to an offline save prior to October 30th. If you fail to do so, you'll have to start over when you boot up an offline game. The directions on how to migrate your progression are listed in the official announcement.
This also means that the Islands of Insight team over at Lunarch Studios is available for new work. If you've got a project coming, maybe hit them up. There's a full listing of what the team has on offer on the Lunarch website.
