Marvel's Avengers Reveals Upcoming 2.6 Content, A Villainous Adventure, And The Winter Soldier Joining Roster
For Update 2.6, there's a villain-focused adventure and tweaks to heroes coming.
Coming after Jane Foster's announcement and potentially She-Hulk joining the fray, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, the Winter Soldier, will be coming to Marvel's Avengers in the future, but not before Square Enix rolls out Update 2.6 sometime in September, bringing an all-new villain-focused adventure for players, tweaks to combat, traversal, and making Heroes a bit more...well...heroic.
"No Rest for the Wicked" will be the new villain-focused warzone adventure involving the Scientist Supreme running out of resources and clones, prompting them to take risks to secure AIM's power. Monica has retrieved M.O.D.O.K. from the San Franciso Bay area to revive him as a weapon against the Avengers and, as usual, our Heroes will need to stop her mutation plans before it gets out of hand.
Update 2.6 will also bring some updates to the full roster of Heroes. A huge element Square Enix is hoping to get right is the heroic feel of a Hero. The patch will see a balance to combat, traversal, and tweaks that reflect Heroes' comic book origins. While 2.6 will kickstart this initiative, players can expect ongoing updates to fine-tune Heroes.
Beyond the September content patch, the Winter Soldier will join the Hero roster. So far, we know Bucky is a hybrid brawler and marksman in combat, but details are sparse and will be revealed later. Alongside his arrival comes new playable content featuring AIM's Cloning Lab as endgame content that will drop new gear and increase the power-level cap.
