Aion 2 Launch Tease

Today, we have an update on the status of the sequel to NCSoft’s original Aion MMORPG. Aion 2 is launching in the West later this year. The company hasn’t given an exact date, but based on that fact, I would guess players will get their hands on the game sometime in the Fall. That is, of course, provided they don’t decide to do an earlier stealth launch, or end up having to delay it for some reason.

The game, which is noted to feature a world “36 times larger than the original Aion,” allows free flight, aerial combat, and even underwater exploration. The aerial combat will be available in both PvP and PvE.

According to the devs, a lot of work has gone into making the global version of the game “suited for global PC players”. NCSoft plans to tell us more about this and the game in general in May, when they’ll also be answering some questions from the community.

In fact, they answered a few of the big ones in the press release. We now know that the Aion 2 global version is built for PC. We also know that we can expect servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. In addition, the game is being localized into English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Aion 2 will be available to download on NCSoft’s Purple launcher. That said, if you’re a Steam fan, you’re covered. The game is even available to Wishlist now. More information can be found on the game’s official site.
