Neverwinter Strongholds Module Coming to PC This Summer

Up until now, Neverwinter, the free to play MMORPG from Cryptic Studios, has primarily been a way for players to experience popular storylines in the ever expanding Dungeons & Dragons universe. Yes, players could make their own stories and quests in the Foundry, but the world of Neverwinter never really felt alive. To me it almost seemed like an interactive storybook.

This Summer, however, that may change as Cryptic Studios launches the 7th module on the PC version of the MMORPG. "Strongholds" tasks guilds with reclaiming an abandoned fortress and the surrounding area and turning it into your guild's own private sanctuary. Guild members will all work towards bolstering the defenses both inside and outside of their stronghold to keep competing guilds out.

“Over the course of the past two years, Neverwinter has been a way for players to experience Dungeons & Dragons themed storylines including Tyranny of Dragons and Elemental Evil,” said Rob Overmeyer, executive producer for Neverwinter. “Strongholds gives our Neverwinter players the ability to create their own stories of banding together with their guild to forge the tales of their rescuing of lands overrun with Orcs and defending their turf from invading players.”

XBox One players will have to wait for their own release announcement, but Cryptic Studios has previously announced that the console version of the MMORPG will receive the PC modules by year's end.
