The First Descendant May Update

The May update for The First Descendant is live, and players can now experience the changes it brings. The three big headliners for this update are the reorganization of the game’s farming loop, an update to Onslaught Mode, and the introduction of the Ultimate Esimo Descendant.

Starting today, the free-to-play shooter’s farming loop should make things more convenient for players. They’ll be able to obtain “essential early-game Descendants and weapons immediately after entering Hard difficulty”. To do this, they’ll collect a material named “Active Shard”. As they progress, the collection speed for the material increases, which should help keep the pace of things up. In addition, ‘Amorphous Material’ will no longer be classified by number but will instead be classified by the Descendant, allowing players to more easily acquire blueprints.

Several changes have been made to Onslaught Mode. Turrets have been rebalanced and a taunt function added to barricades. A Bombardment Support Service, resource acquisition routes, and more will improve resource acquisition. Abilities now feature grades and types. Dialogues and entry sequences have been added to missions. And, finally, the rewards system has been redesigned around weekly reset rewards, allowing players to earn up to four guaranteed-roll Ancestors Modules a week.

The third highlight, the Descendant Ultimate Esimo, has two new transcendent modules, ‘Rampaging Mad Bomber’ and ‘Explosion Maestro’. The first changes the effects on his passive and active skills. The latter is a linking skill that doubles the number of attached bombs when using Arche Explosion. His equipment is an Arche-transition explosion-proof suit. A rundown on Esimo, as well as the rest of the update, can be found in the stream below.
