"Buying Expansions Is P2W": New World Answers Your Hot Takes And Questions About Rise Of The Angry Earth
It's time for another Q&A from New World.
This week's New World community Q&A is all about the upcoming expansion for the MMORPG, Rise of the Angry Earth.
First up is discussion of the instability of the PTR when it first went up with Rise of the Angry Earth content. The dev team says that the root cause of that instability has been located and fixed. The PTR has been running smoothly the past few days, so it looks like that issue has been addressed and should not affect the launch.
Gear will be more streamlined in New World once Rise of the Angry Earth goes live. You can expect faster gear score increases and more reliable drops with loot biasing. The end game gear grind really comes from getting those best-in-slot perks and using the golden scarabs when crafting to choose all of your gears' perks for true BIS.
The New World team reiterates again that the Season 3 pass does not come with the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion purchase. The expansion is a Steam store purchase, and the season pass is a separate in-game purchase. There will not be a bundle for the two.
Further proof that the gaming community as a whole has lost all concept of what "pay-to-win" actually means comes when somebody submits a question that refers to purchasing the expansion as "pay-to-win" in one of the most moronic gaming moments of the year.
Gypsum will continue to be useful in the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion as it will be part of upgrading Named items and unlocking the final perk of Artifact gear.

MMOs have never felt quite right on Steam Deck to me and I think TESO might feel even "less right."
There just isn't a compelling reason why the game wasn't F2P from the start.
