Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis’s Summer Bash Billboard Ad Might Seem A Bit Familiar To FFXIV Players
This one’s official though.
Who remembers the billboard ads for a big RP party in Final Fantasy XIV. The one that featured game characters dressed in summer clothing that wasn’t out yet, but the creators had access to thanks to data mining and mods? Everyone thought Square Enix was going to come crashing down around our heads and this was the end of mods for sure? Was that really all a year ago?

Obviously, that didn’t happen. I mean, we ended up having the whole thing repeat again when the zoom cheat was used to complete The Omega Protocol Ultimate. And the world continues to turn.
But that doesn’t mean the whole thing hasn’t been forgotten about. And it seems that Sega, of all things, decided to have a little fun with it. The company doled out money for billboards in Los Angeles and Dallas for the upcoming Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Summer Bash event. The billboard is obviously intended to promote the game’s new Creative Space feature that doubles both as housing and a place for players to create challenges for each other, but it definitely riffs on the FFXIV billboard of Drama. It’s an interesting choice and it seems like it’s having the desired effect. People are talking about it.
It's a Summer Bash! 🔥🧡☄️
