SMITE 2 Alpha Weekend stats

SMITE 2 has released some stats from its Alpha Weekend that took place last week, and luckily it is in video form for your viewing pleasure. We'll go ahead and hit some of the big stats from the MOBA's Alpha Weekend here, though.

There were 604,470 matches played over the course of the SMITE 2 Alpha Weekend, and it looks like the top-picked gods were Neith, Anubis, and Ymir. 3,142,556 total kills were racked up and there were 6,966,566 Ultimate abilities fired. 346,786 total hours were played during the event.

I got to play a bit of SMITE 2 during the Alpha Weekend and came away quite impressed with the improvements made over SMITE 1. Sure, it looks better than the original SMITE, but some of the systems and mechanics that are in place now show just how limited the devs were on the older game engine.

While all of the focus was on SMITE 2 last week, this week OG SMITE is not letting us forget about it. The Galactic Frontier update is right around the corner, and with it comes new skins for Athena, Anhur, Kulkulkan, Guan Yu, and Wukong.

The big news for the Galactic Frontier update is the return of the Odin's Onslaught game mode. The 2v2v2v2v2 (whew...) large jungle map will see players race to reach 40,000 gold. Norn minions will spawn after the match begins, granting gold until all Norns are killed, at which point the Nidhoggr miniboss spawns. Kill the Nidhoggr to collect a scale that, when returned to the shop, grants gold depending on how many times you've returned it. After the third cycle of this, the final boss appears, dropping a Dragon Skull for the team that slays it along with a powerful buff for the team.

There are plenty of bug fixes and balance changes for SMITE in the Galactic Frontiers update as well, and you can check them all out in the official patch notes.
