Star Trek Online Expands On Experimental Ship Upgrades
Now with more tokens.
Star Trek Online expanded the Experimental Ship Upgrade system in the MMORPG, allowing players to use technology from the entirety of the Khitomer Alliance. This means that players can take advantage of Federation, Romulan, Klingon, and Dominion knowledge when upgrading their ships. When Incursion launches, Cryptic will be expanding on this even more, allowing players to upgrade one level past T6-X to T6-X2. Using this upgrade will grant players one additional of each of the following: a Device Slot, a Universal Console Slot, and a Starship Trait Slot.
To make these upgrades, players will need to spend Experimental Ship Upgrade Tokens. The amount of tokens needed depends on what level the player is upgrading from and to. That said, anyway they go, players will need to spend a total of 3 tokens to make the jump from T6 to T6-X2. An upgrade from T6 to T6-X is one token. Upgrading from T6-X to T6-X2 requires two tokens. Or, you can just make the full jump from T6 to T6-X2 and skip the middle tier altogether.
